Day 1

Welcome to Sri Lanka

We meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Colombo to rest after your journey.

Day 2

Anuradhapura’s sacred temples

Travel north to Sigiriya, visiting the ancient temples of Anuradhapura along the way.

Day 3

The royal city of Polonnaruwa

A day exploring the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, returning to your hotel in Sigiriya.

Day 4

Village life and Sigiriya Rock

Join a village cooking experience, take a cart ride and a boat ride, and tour the village by three-wheeler. In the evening, climb Sigiriya Rock — and take care on the way back down.

Day 5

Dambulla and Kandy

Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple and the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, then end the day with a traditional Kandyan dance performance.

Day 6

Into tea country

Stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens, then visit a tea factory on the way up into the hills around Ramboda and Nuwara Eliya.

Day 7

The train to Ella

Board the hill-country train at Nanu Oya for one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys to Ella. Depending on the time, visit Little Adam’s Peak or the Nine Arch Bridge the same afternoon — otherwise we go first thing the next morning.

Day 8

Waterfalls on the road south

Finish anything we missed in Ella, visit Ravana Falls, then walk to Beragala Falls for a swim and a local lunch before continuing to Tissamaharama.

Day 9

Safari in Yala

An afternoon safari in Yala National Park.

Day 10

Galle Fort and Hikkaduwa

Explore Galle Fort, then head to Turtle Beach in Hikkaduwa — diving can be arranged for two or three hours if you have the gear. Visit the moonstone mine near Hikkaduwa, and then we drop you in Bentota or wherever you prefer. Staying in Bentota? Ask about a river safari.
